A couple weeks ago I signed a lease on a new location, since then I've been running around applying for licenses and permits. With all the build outs approved my buddy Nate with Concepts in Carpentry and I started the demo last night.
When I had taken over the location on Fidus it had been home to some very talanted artist who left their mark in one way or another while there. Victor Whitmill, Dave Logue, Kent Kelly, and then myself have worked in those walls. I seriously feel that making the change 6 years ago and opening my own tattoo studio at the Fidus location was the best thing I could have done for my art as well as my sanity. When I got away from all the noise and distractions of the street tattoo shops I felt that (for myself at least) I was able to focus more my how to design body pieces to flow and work with the body's natural movement, build on realism and vivid color contrasting, and generally improve on what I've learned so far as a tattooist. So now it is time to pass on the Fidus studio to a long time friend and fellow artist, Jason Murphy. Best wishes to him and his new shop.
Here are some shots of the old studio on Fidus.
